No more war
This piece was inspired by a street poster I saw on the Isle of Elba in the year 1980 where a friend and I had gone after a couple weeks in Florence. Keep in mind that in 1980, Italy was almost the cheapest country in Europe ($1.00 3-course meals, $4.00 hotels, etc. Sadly, not any longer - boohoo…)
The poster I saw on the walls of Capoliveri featured a traditional bomb with tail fins alla buzz-bomb style. It was dangling over the world floating in space as if it were the Sword of Damocles. It said, “Mai Piú La Guerra (No More War), and below it all, “La Terza Sará L’ultima (The Third Will Be the Last).
So, after returning to America I recreated this piece in my own style hoping it would inspire others. Now, after 44 years we’re all focused on what the future will bring.
